Meath County Fire & Rescue service paid a visit to our school this week and involved all of the boys in Third and Fourth Classes in their fire safety presentation. The firemen spoke about the dangerous situations that they encounter on a regular basis on on how to avoid them.
Each pupil received a safety pack with cards and booklets outlining common fire hazards and how to prevent them. The firemen encouraged the boys to be part of the Fire Safety Team. The firemen demonstrated the dangers involved in day to day domestic tasks such as cooking. This demonstration showed the importance of never leaving cookers unattended while they were in use. The boys were shown how to use a fire blanket correctly. The two men also stressed the importance of switching all electrical appliances off before bedtime. The boys said they found the presentation was great fun and very informative. Comments are closed.
