Well done to all the Mams, Dads, Grannies, Grandads and carers who bravely bid farewell to their little ones, as they made the move into Big School yesterday. A few tears were shed and we even heard muffled sobs. But, to be fair, most of the adults were very brave.
And, thanks to our Parents' Association, they enjoyed a very pleasant cup of tea in our hall before galloping back to see their little ones again. As for the children, they're really enjoying all the games they've played with Mrs. Martin and Ms. Rice. They love lining up and walking along the corridor as they head out to play in the Infant yard. They love drawing on huge sheets of paper and colouring with twistables. They sing and dance and listen to stories. And they are making lots of new friends. They're looking forward to meeting two new classmates next week. And to a longer day from 9.20-12pm. The big boys in sixth class help them out in the yard and from next Monday morning the sixth class boys will meet them at the steps and bring the little ones around to the yard in the morning. Of course, Mams, Dads and carers can take them around until they're feeling brave enough to let them go! Mrs Martin and Ms Rice had a really lovely surprise for each of their boys this afternoon. Because they were so good and brave on their first two days, they each got a tube of bubbles! And every tube bore a very special message: " Mrs Martin and Ms Rice are bubbling with excitement to teach you all this year!" How true! |
